All individual channels have there own trademark font that is similar that is shown in there ident's. All of the ident's use similar fonts, sizes, bold or logos and shapes. It is a positive limitation that the font must stay the same as it gives the channel an appealing sense of consistency and makes the audience familiar with the font, this helps them to remember what the channel is. At the same time there is negative limitations as if the font s are all similar they can sometimes get lifeless and too familiar as audiences want to see new things in the ident's. On channels such as the BBC the logo they have will constantly stay the same, but the try to make the channels ident's more imaginative and relate them to the shows that are shown on the channels.Colour -

Another limitation that is also shown within an ident is the colour, as all individual channels have a colour to signify what channel they are it may become harder to make ident's interesting for viewer as the producers of the ident's have to stick to certain colours. Colours can be positive limitations because it makes the channel more recognisable to the audience. It also means that the viewers may be able to remember what channel to watch by the colour of the channel. It is also negative for a channel to have to stay the same colour as they become boring and can become uninteresting for the audience. Channels such as E4 and ITV2 will use the same colour in there ident's that are similar to the logo. Aspect ratio -
All high definition ident's must be delivered in 16:9 widescreen as if they are not the programmes can either be to big for the screen or will have a black box around the edge. The limitations of this are positive as it is important to keep control of the screens size otherwise there may be issues and complaints that have to be settled.

Duration -
All channels have the dilemma of having to fill certain amounts of space between television shows. Some may have to be a longer due to the amount of space between the shows. They will also have to use footage that is able to be cut to make shorter and longer ident's. On BBC they use a video that is showing dogs doing tricks and they have produced a shorter and longer version of that particular video.
